Singer Britney Spears and fiance-agent Jason Trawick are now "X."
Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have had enough of each other.
The 31-year-old pop star has broken off her engagement with Trawick, her former agent.
"As two mature adults, they came to the difficult decision to go their separate ways while continuing to remain friends," Spears' publicist Jeff Raymond said.
"Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement," Spears said in a statement released by her publicist. "I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends."
 "As this chapter ends for us a new one begins," said Trawick in his own statement.  "I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever."
The pair started dating in 2009. Trawick popped the question on his 40th birthday, back in December 2011.

Last April, Spears asked Trawick to became co-conservator over her personal affairs, along with her dad, Jamie Spears. The pop singer has been under court supervision since February 2008. When a person is incapable of taking care of his or her own personal matters, a conservator is appointed by a judge to have control over all personal decisions, from finances to medical care.
Jamie Spears’ lawyer said that it was the pop singer’s idea to name Trawick as a co-conservator, indicating that their relationship was going strong.
But Trawick recently resigned from that role, according to The Associated Press. His new responsibilities might have caused the split.
“The relationship has been more than slightly rocky in the past few months and Brit attributes that to having her man essentially being one of her babysitters. It has killed the romance in the relationship,†a source told The Examiner on Friday.
The couple had been sleeping in separate bedrooms for a “very long time,†the source reports.

Friends, yes. Business partners, no. Spears recently changed agencies. She left Trawick’s management for the Creative Artists Agency.
Trawick said that he will remain close to Spears and her two sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline--Preston, 7, and Jayden, 6.

Earlier today, Spears confirmed that she will be quitting after one season as a judge on Simon Cowell’s “X Factor.†She wanted to concentrate on making her own music.
