The 27-year-old son of the creator of cloyingly sweet "Barney the Dinosaur" tried to kill his neighbor in a wealthy coastal California enclave last week, police said.
Patrick Leach â€" who, as a toddler, provided the inspiration for his mom Sheryl Leach’s purple T-rex character â€" was arrested Jan. 9 for allegedly shooting the 49-year-old in the chest in a dispute, authorities said.
The shooting was over a "trespassing issue," the Malibu Times reported.
Leach fled, still armed, but was apprehended "without incident," said a spokesman for the Los Angeles County sheriff.
He was released on $ 1 million bail.
