Wanda Arean alleges her orthopedist, Mark Sherman, sent her a slew of 'filty' text messeages, including one exposing himself.

A sexually obsessed orthopedist went from X-rays to X-rated with an alluring patient, texting her a photo of his penis to cap years of creepy come-ons, a shocking new lawsuit charges.

Dr. Mark Sherman targeted 9/11 widow Wanda Arena after lifting her phone number from a patient file when she came to him for surgery on a torn ACL in 2009, according to the complaint.

The toned fitness competitor, who flaunts her physique in string bikini contests, freaked out when Sherman sent the perverted picture in the wee hours of Oct. 5.

“It kind of enraged me and scared me at the same time,” Arena told the Daily News. “Who does that?”

Arena, now three months pregnant and engaged, fired off an angry response: “Your(sic) a filthy animal and don’t ever text me again or I’ll go to the police.”

His nonchalant response, according to Arena: “OK. Sorry.”

The alleged victim filed a harassment complaint with cops at the 122nd Precinct, but didn’t pursue it further because she thought that would be “going too far.”

It was Arena’s fiancé who referred her to Sherman, a well-known Staten Island surgeon and civic leader honored several times for his community service.

Arena, 42, said Sherman’s three years of unrequited wooing began with random phone calls and romantic poems sent by text before escalating to the penis photo.

It continued despite Arena’s consistent cold shoulder toward the doctor. When his pursuit began, she “thought he was a little kooky” and perhaps tipsy. She grew outraged and afraid.

“You’re looking over your shoulder constantly,” she said Tuesday. “It definitely was in my head.”

The 12:04 a.m. crotch shot was accompanied by the message “Where r u?” â€" and then four phone calls that Arena ignored, according to a draft of the lawsuit. Arena’s lawyer Robert Brown is expected to file court papers Wednesday.

Sherman is a high-profile surgeon who led a team of local doctors to Haiti after the January 2010 earthquake. The group treated dozens of patients. He is also the co-founder of the Unity Games, which blends basketball with workshops to eliminate ethnic intolerance among Staten Island middle school students.

Sherman was divorced about a year ago and lives alone, according to a woman at his Staten Island home. Neighbors sprang quickly to his defense.

“He’s done a lot on Staten Island promoting interracial relations,” said Joseph Volpe, 72.

Arena, a part-time EMT, lost her FDNY hero husband Louis in the terrorist attack that toppled the World Trade Center. She’s engaged to a police officer â€" who also had knee surgery done by Sherman.

“It’s insulting, and it’s also kind of put a little wedge between us at the time,” she said.
