NRA's Wayne LaPierre blames violent video games, among other things, for mass shootings across the nation.

Blame the shooter, not the shoot ’em-up games.

Violent video games are in the National Rifle Association’s cross hairs, but gamers insist their hobby isn’t responsible for recent mass killings.

“It’s dumb blaming everything on video games,” said Jim Welington, 29, manager of Video Games New York in the East Village. “I don’t see any of our customers going out and trying to kill someone just because of a video game.”

Even the most offensive and outlandish game has nothing to do with a madman like Adam Lanza, who goes far beyond fantasy into real world horror, gamers said.

“It’s a game, it’s not real life,” said Angelo Portella, 43, who bought “Assassin’s Creed” at a Howard Beach, Queens, GameStop. “Guns should be banned, not video games.”

Around 50,000 gamers put down their controllers for a 24-hour online cease-fire on Friday, according to the gaming blog Kotaku.
